About this trip

A straightforward Vaishno Devi package from Jammu. You stay in Katra, and we help with the yatra slip, cloakroom and — if you want it — pony, palki or helicopter arrangements.

The climb is about 12 km on a paved, lit path. Many pilgrims prefer to walk it overnight when it is cooler and quieter. Bhairavnath Temple after darshan is included in the plan for those who want it.

Day by day

  1. Day 1

    Arrive Jammu, transfer to Katra

    Pickup at Jammu airport or railway station and transfer to Katra. Collect the yatra slip and rest.

  2. Day 2

    Vaishno Devi darshan

    Begin the 12 km climb — on foot, by pony or by helicopter to Sanjichhat. Darshan at the Bhawan, then Bhairavnath Temple. Return to Katra.

  3. Day 3

    Departure

    Transfer back to Jammu for your onward journey.

Can you book helicopter tickets?
We can assist, but helicopter tickets are released by the Shrine Board and sell out very quickly. Book as far ahead as possible and treat them as subject to availability.
How long does the climb take?
Between four and seven hours on foot depending on fitness and breaks. Ponies take around three hours; the helicopter reduces the walk to about 2.5 km from Sanjichhat.
