About this trip

For travellers who want the valley rather than a highlights reel. Eight days lets us add Sonamarg and Doodhpathri to the standard circuit, and gives Pahalgam two nights instead of one.

Doodhpathri in particular is the day most guests tell us afterwards they were glad we included — it is an hour from Srinagar and still largely empty.

Day by day

  1. Day 1

    Arrive Srinagar

    Airport pickup, houseboat check-in and an evening shikara ride.

  2. Day 2

    Srinagar sightseeing

    Mughal gardens, Shankaracharya Temple, Hazratbal and the old city.

  3. Day 3

    Doodhpathri

    Half-day drive to Doodhpathri meadow with time by the Shaliganga stream. Return to Srinagar.

  4. Day 4

    Sonamarg

    Drive to Sonamarg. Pony ride or walk to Thajiwas Glacier. Return to Srinagar in the evening.

  5. Day 5

    Gulmarg

    Full day at Gulmarg with both gondola phases. Overnight in Gulmarg.

  6. Day 6

    Gulmarg to Pahalgam

    Cross-country drive to Pahalgam via Pampore. Evening walk along the Lidder.

  7. Day 7

    Pahalgam valleys

    Betaab, Aru and Chandanwari by local taxi. Optional ride up to Baisaran.

  8. Day 8

    Departure

    Drive back to Srinagar and transfer to the airport.
