About this trip

For repeat visitors, or first-timers who would rather not share the view. Gurez is the centrepiece — a border valley of timber villages north of the Razdan Pass, where the Kishanganga runs green and tourism has barely arrived.

Doodhpathri and Yusmarg fill out the rest: two meadows within easy reach of Srinagar that most itineraries leave out entirely.

Gurez is seasonal — the road opens around May and closes with the first heavy snow. Permits may be required and we arrange them.

Day by day

  1. Day 1

    Arrive Srinagar

    Airport pickup, hotel check-in and an evening shikara ride.

  2. Day 2

    Srinagar to Gurez

    Long drive north over the Razdan Pass into the Gurez valley. Overnight at Dawar.

  3. Day 3

    Gurez and Tulail

    Explore Dawar, the Kishanganga and the Tulail villages. Habba Khatoon peak at dusk.

  4. Day 4

    Gurez to Srinagar

    Return drive to Srinagar with photo stops along the way.

  5. Day 5

    Doodhpathri

    Day trip to the Doodhpathri meadow. Return to Srinagar.

  6. Day 6

    Yusmarg

    Day trip to Yusmarg with the walk to Nilnag Lake, stopping at Charar-e-Sharief.

  7. Day 7

    Departure

    Transfer to Srinagar airport.

Yes, it is open to Indian tourists and the road is used regularly. Because it is near the Line of Control, permits may be required and some areas are restricted. We handle the paperwork and our drivers know the route.
